To create a short film in which Santa is to enter the store and end up skating on the roof of Harold’s Location Brompton Road, Knightsbridge, London, UK
After the team briefing the idea was complete for filming the advert. The scene would begin with Santa entering the store. As the store would be dark the security guard would chase Santa with a torch as the source of lighting to add the mood and excitement. As he moved though the store “ducking and diving” he would pick up a pair of ice skates from a shelf. He would then be chased up the spiral stair case to the roof where the rink was setup.
The rink would need to be built on the Helipad on the roof of Harold’s. The rink needed to be positioned so that the world famous Harold’s dome could be seen in the back ground. The filming would take place at night so the lights of the dome would be the highlighted. The rink size was decided to be 12x12 144(m2). The professional skater had a choreographed performance in which he would wear a large Santa’s outfit along with sunglasses. The ice rink barriers were not required as this as a film production.
With the rink built, cameras set and professional skater at the ready “action”. The weather was perfect with a warm star filled night over central London. The filming was done over a period of 2 evening.
With filming complete and the rink and lighting removed it was down to the editors to complete the footage. After competition the video went live direct via Harold’s website and also via social media.
